Scandinavia - the last unspoilt area of Europe.

Finland is the land of ten thousand lakes and deep pine forests. The country is fairly flat but the lakes are lovely and a lakeside log cabin with its own sauna can be rented for a really relaxing country holiday. In the summertime there are excursion steamers plying the main lakes and there is even a steamer offering a day trip into neighbouring Russia. In winter you should take your children to Finnish Lappland to meet Santa Claus. Visiting the 'real' Father Christmas in Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lappland, is attracting more and more children every year and Lappland abounds in winter activities such as snow-scooter safaris, reindeer and dog sleigh rides, skiing and much besides.
