The southern tip is very similar to Denmark whereas the rest of the country consists mainly of lakes and pine forests. There is a mountain chain in the north along the Norwegian border. Generally speaking, the country is undulating in the west and flat in the east. Stockholm is one of the world's most beautiful capitals situated on fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea.
