Estonia by ferry from Helsinki

Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, has changed beyond recognition in a little more than a decade since the country regained its independence. The heart of Tallinn is the Old Town with its cobbled alleyways and architecture reflecting the 700

year history of the city which has endured and survived Danish, Swedish and Russian occupations. The Estonian landscape comprises mainly pine forests and lakes. Tours of Estonia can be arranged by public transport or with self-drive rental cars. Tallinn is easily reached from Helsinki. The conventional ferries take three and a half hours whereas the catamarans take half as long. There are frequent daily departures during the summer season. As there is still a severe shortage of hotel accommodation in Tallinn, early booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment.
